Project Overview

The client is a local organization focused on removing invasive English Ivy from Portland parks. This project is designed to train volunteers on ivy removal before they hit the trails.

Process

I designed and developed this eLearning module from start to finish. The stakeholders were passionate about this project and has a clear vision for the end design.

I aligned my process to the stakeholders and SMEs and used a more agile and interactive instructional design model process for the process, Successive Approximation Model (SAM).

I met with the Stakeholders and SMEs and created a virtual mockup and a base script. We met as a team. We used an iterative process, shaping and developing the prototype and script each meeting.

Prototype 1

In the first example I created templates using brand colors and fonts. I showcased many images and videos and determined the need for interactive ivy identification.

I developed a sample script to narrate  each slide.

Prototype 2

In the next round, I created hotspots on images for learners to select and identify ivy. I dialed in the template slides using brand standards.  I developed quiz questions and created a more fleshed out script.

Prototype 3

I increased the number of quiz questions and finalized the script.

The Final Product

I matched the triggers, layers, and advanced action timing with the audio creating a smooth and streamlined look. I recorded the dialogue and added in audio files for a cinematic feel.

Accessibility

I applied accessibility features like closed captioning and keyboard triggers. A PDF script of the training is included with the final product.
